This.
OP its a non issue. They all due it due to the translucent Apple. Once the screen turns on it goes away.
Completely normal.

I can't believe this thread has gone on as long as it has. this is basic, people. light goes both ways through a translucent agent.
I think the thing here is a lot of people are clueless about how a backlight is built and think the lights are really behind the display. They don't know the light source is at the edges and illuminates a translucent panel. Thus they don't comprehend why light would pass all the way through
I'm writing this from my 2011 Macbook Air, which replaced my 2010 Macbook Air. Sometimes I prefer my 2010 Macbook Pro, or my 2009 Macbook Pro at work. Incidentally, none of them have the problem this guy is describing.
This clearly isn't a problem; it is just the light source that is sinning on the logo. The Apple logo is see-through. If you put your hand in front of the logo you can see it, because your hand will be blocking the light source. If you can't see your hand, or it doesn't go away with no light in the room, then I would worry.
When in the right light, I can see the Apple logo through my screen... I have a new 2011 13" MBA btw.
I'm really hoping this is normal but I'm guessing it's not.
Anyone wanna see if they have the same problem? Turn off the computer or put it on sleep, then try looking at the center for a big white fuzzy looking splotch shaped perfectly with the Apple logo on the back of the computer. If you can't see it immediately go somewhere with less light. Or you may just not have the problem.
I guess my screen was pressed too hard against the back during production or something?
edit: okay, so if I just get a black wallpaper or something I can't see it. Only when the screen's off. But, if I move my hand over the logo on the back of the computer you can't see it on the screen. Weirdness!
