Why is device setup & updates using 37% of my battery? I’m on an iPhone 16 pro max that I picked up yesterday.

Yes, when the phone is new, you probably should leave it plugged in for the first few hours when it’s setting up. It’s going to be transferring data, downloading the apps and a whole bunch of other stuff. it will definitely pull your battery down if it’s not plugged in.

That's normal. There's a lot of background processes indexing things and whatnot during the first day or so of a new phone and/or OS upgrade.
