Is this online dealer conning me?

He's selling me his new macbook pro but doesn't have the receipt. He claims that I can get the warranty simply through the computers serial number and that I don't need the receipt. Is this true?

I need help quick. thanks!

So just to confirm, I don't need the receipt?? How does Apple know how long the computer has been sold for?

Usually, the serial numbers are sent to Apple when they sold ... occasionally they are a few days off. That is when having the receipt matters, so you can prove the actual date. Usually though, the estimate is close enough.

get the serial number before you buy. That way you can call apple and make sure it hasn't been reported stolen.
