It's still being sold on BHPhotovideo. The enclosure has probably been manufactured for the last ten to fifteen years. Which makes sense since it is FW 800. As they don't manufacture hard drives. They probably just toss whatever is currently the cheapest when it comes off the line. So, the HDD is likely much newer.

It claims to have USB3.
Although I don't recall that particular form factor (that the USB port is) as being "USB3".

What kind of Mac do you have?
Do you have firewire?
Do you have USB3?

Hmmmm....
If it's a platter-based hard drive inside, even if it operates at only USB2 speeds, even that ought to be "fast enough" to handle data transfer rates from a platter-based drive...

It's a USB 3.0 Type B port. But USB 3.0 Type B is not backwards compatible with 2.0 type B. They changed the connector in Type B to add five more pins.

As for 2.0 speeds and platter drives. In depends on the data type. Large sequential transfers can easily go past 130 MBps some approaching 200 MBps (1600 Mbps). USB 2.0 would be quite a limit dealing with the likes of video files.

Is this a bad drive that they put in it.
Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 (AF)
ST3000DM001-1ER166
I had a crash today and had to redo everything.

I don't see a USB3 A port, I do see a USB3 B port.

Seagate Baracuda drives are very good drives, 7200rpm.

May have had more to do with the FW800 connection than with the drive itself. FireWire wasn't all that reliable over time... the cables either went bad or the ports did. Hence the disappearance of FireWire from newer devices.

ST3000DM001 - Wikipedia

"The ST3000DM001 is a hard disk drive released by Seagate Technology in 2011 as part of the Seagate Barracuda series. It has a capacity of 3 terabytes (TB) and a spindle speed of 7200 RPM. This particular drive model was reported to have unusually high failure rates, approximately 5.7 times higher fail rates in comparison to other 3 TB drives.[1]"
