Is there a way to refresh the App or have i to restart it?
Am also interested in finding out the answer to this.As I will have my order saved to the favorites tab, can I just keep on entering and exiting that or do I need to exit and re-enter the whole app?

Only time I could order something from apple on the day of pre-orders was through the app. Every time I went via the web browser on my computer, I got shut-out (long load times, etc).

In other words, I would use the app. But I will say this again (as I did in previous threads), make sure your credit card info as well as your billing & shipping information is up-to-date. Nothing worse than about to be able to pre-order an IPhone X but you need to update your credit card info or your billing address. Had that happen to me (think it was the iPad 2); manage to get one in my shopping cart, about to buy and realized my billing & shipping address was inaccurate. once I got that fixed, wasn't able to pre-order one for release day delivery. Wasn't a happy camper that day.

I always quit the app and relaunch...frequently and feverishly until ordering goes live. :)
This is why everyone has to keep an iPhone 7 or whatever they currently have for preorders from now until ever, because the iPhone X is far far slower at getting to multitasking.

I have found using your carrier's app to be the best way to preorder. The Apple app has to connect to Verizon for example to pull your account info, this is usually where the delays start as everyone is trying to access Verizon info remotely from the Apple app or website. Through the carrier app, there is usually no delay and connects right away. If you want an X early, I would use your carrier app if possible. Apple app is definitely second best though.

I agree with what your saying. Ironically, I was talking to Verizon the other day and I admitted that I will be pre-ordering iPhone X. When talking to a representative, they suggested I don't use the application and order through the desktop site. They think that will be a lot of instability issues due to the demand with iPhone X this year.

Once it’s saved in your favorites it stays there.

Yea I wouldn't be surprised. I'll likely have both going and see what works first.

In two minds wether pre order on the web page or online. Think this is what i will use. How about you?

I have found in recent years the app is quicker but guess it’s impossible to say.

I have to ask, why is it so important to get the new iPhone in the quickest possible manner? Why the rush?

Because it will be sold out within minutes.

Again, why the Rush? What would be different if you had to wait a day or a week? Is it a matter of life or death?

It's a PHONE. A PHONE. To check you email or look at Facebook or Twitter. What will you be gaining by getting one off the first, say 50 phones? What is the Rush?

Because you won't get one this year if you don't. If you don't order one straight away you won't see one long into 2018

Pretty easy to understand.

People who post on these forums use their phone to do more than just call and check emails.

You are right. I use my 7 plus to look at "forums". Works great. Have no desire to find the quickest way to buy a new phone at this point. Not a big deal. AND, I don't have to complain about a NOTCH.

An OLED and Faster Processor to look at forums, FB, Twitter, or check your email is great. If you are trying to edit video or photos on a phone, you are not serious. If you are trying to compose music on a phone, you are not serious.

Further, I predict the X will NOT be sold out, and those who buy them will be here on these forums a short time later complaining. Thats what sheep do.

Well you would be wrong because it will sell out without question.

Nobody is saying YOU need to upgrade but many people like upgrading their phones each year.

Why?

OK. What makes you think that there will be a shortage? The design is average, the technology has been done already. What exactly do you know that I don't that makes you think this phone will be in short supply?

Apple always under produces their products. Creates demand. Good for publicity. No big secret.

But short of that, why is this phone any different? An why upgrade every year? A class or culture thing? First on your block to spend $1000 plus for a phone? Is it a status thing?

I could heap praise on you now an save you the pressure of being the first to have the latest "iPhone". Comical.

Because for one it has an apple logo on it so people will buy the latest and greatest no matter what and even more so now that the design is new and the first design change in like 4 years.

People simply like the newest tech every year thats why. Has nothing to do being a status symbol.

Some people like to spend thousands on going out drinking every week over the course of the year but some like to spend it on tech. Who are you to judge how people spend their money? if you get good use out of it then anything is worth the money.

I'm not judging. I am trying to understand why the Apple logo cause people to desire their products to a point where they go out of their way (An into debt) just to have them. No other way to explain the phenomenon other than it being a status thing.

I say go for it. Hope the new iPhone X is all that you hoped it will be, and your friends will hover around you and envy your "Phone". Hope it elevates you to a new level of status in your community, and inspires those around you to aspire to greater things. I wish you and your phone many successes.

The iPhone X will sell out within 5 Minutes max. These phones will be in short supply till next year.

With iPhone Upgrade program and Carriers device payment programs its easy to upgrade every year, just make 12 payments and you can turn in the phone and get a new phone. You will be surprised how many "Regular People" do this. The demand is high, if you go into any cellphone carrier store or a electronics retailer they are asking when the X is coming out and when they can pre-order it.

The cellphone carriers have made it very easy to upgrade every 12 months, its not very hard. For example I am on Verizon device payments and have made 12 payments so far on 3 of my lines and before I payed off my phone and sold it off, I got a text from Verizon saying I can early upgrade if if I turn in the device when I get a new phone.

I am not saying one needs to upgrade every year or they need to buy a X but it seems people just want to have the latest and greatest or why else would carriers want to make it so easy to do it.

People don't buy these phones if they can't afford it. Why would they? most pay for these devices on monthly payments anyway.

You really think others or myself will buy the x to get other people's opinion on it? I think everybody who buys the phone is hardly going to care what others around them think of it.

Not sure why you are even in this thread or these forums if you don't understand that people here like getting new phones every year.

Totally understand. But why? I walk around town and see a bunch of people with phones sticking out of their back pockets. Occasionally reaching to check their mail, FB, Twitter, or listen to music. $1000 plus in their back pocket. Why?

I guess making never ending monthly payments to a phone company to have the latest and greatest is just a way of life. Enjoy.

The # of people who pay outright for a smartphone these days is very small. If for example 20 people went into a carrier store to upgrade their phone, how many would be paying out of pocket. Probably zero maybe one, for some people just like a fixed cost for their phone and their service, some have older plans that give them discounts if they get the phone on device payments, some just can't afford to pay outright for a phone. Plus now a days carriers are doing trade in deals too.

People no longer look at the MSRP of the phone just look at how much it is per month and how many payments they need to make before they can upgrade. Its like the days of 2 year agreements where if they broke their phone or just wanted a new phone they would have to wait till their contract is up.

I am on these threads because I like and use Apple products. I have a lot of Apple stuff, going back to the 1990's.

Personally I feel current Apple products continue to get more expensive and less useful. So I ask questions.

I used to stand in line for the first couple of iPhones. Was exciting, new, different. Nowadays I seem to be skipping every other generation. I had a 4, a 5, a 6 plus, and now a 7 plus. Most of the time I upgraded because my old phone died. Not because a "New phone" came out.

Apple products nowadays are nowhere near as revolutionary as they once were. If you are still excited about technology that already exists in other phones, but is "new" to the iPhone, I say enjoy.

Was just trying to understand the reasoning behind the hype of a product that is already outdated and being produced by others. Many will point to iOS as the deciding factor, but even that is not a good as it used to be. In my opinion Siri sucks, and bugs are a part of life in iOS, just like other OS's.

So where do you draw the line? When does it become a bad decision to finance a "phone" for two or three years or more, just to be given the "opportunity" to get a "better phone" in 30 months? where does it end? Are you comfortable paying for a "phone" as time goes by, making continuous payments for five or ten years or more?

Well to be fair, carrier financing is setup so that the phone is payed off in 24months. Its no different then the old 2 year agreements. As long as you pay your bill on time and you do not upgrade in 24 months the phone is payed off. Its never a bad decision to finance since carrier financing has 0% Interest, all they do it take the MSRP of the device and divide it by 24 months which equals your monthly payment.
