From reading around doesn't the thunderbolt port acts as a mini display port too?

I try/tried to find the solution but it doesn't seem that simple, I found one adapter but it was $72.

Tried searching for "HDMI to (Mini) Diplayport" and "Thunderbolt to (Mini) Displayport" but get questions instead.

Yes, Thunderbolt has that built in but looking for an adapter from Apple results in nothing.

I also found this but that is the other way around, don't know if it works.

Edit: This was the expensive adapter I was talking about:

I believe that any mini-Displayport to mini-Displayport cable will work. There is no need for a TB to mini-DP adaptor or any other kind of adaptor as the iMac will present itself as a screen while in TDM. Just plug both ends into the MBP and iMac and put the iMac in TDM. Any cheap mini-DP cable will work. Cheers!

Edit: Here is proof. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3924?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#1

Note that a TB cable will not be supported!

So a male mini dv to male mini dv should do it?

Where were you looking? Here's an easy find:

And because Thunderbolt is based on DisplayPort technology, the video standard for high-resolution displays, any Mini DisplayPort display plugs right into the Thunderbolt port.

Tried searching for "HDMI to (Mini) Diplayport" and "Thunderbolt to (Mini) Displayport" but get questions instead.

No adapter is needed.

No adapter is needed.

The reason I was confused because the link to that cable is confusion, they should say:

Thunderbolt Male to Mini DisplayPort Male
Instead of:
Mini DisplayPort / Thunderbolt Male to Mini DisplayPort Male

It is a Thunderbolt to whatever adapter!

Thanks you cleared that one up for me.:)
