Mini has been getting mediocre stepchild treatment, do you guys think this would be the last year for the mini?

I'm also thinking that since this is the first year an iPad was skipped, I have a good feeling that iPad Air 3 will blow us out of the water next year.

It was believed that the mini 3 was actually going to be the last update to the mini line. But seeing as they actually made a decent improvement with the 4, it seems like they are committed to at least keep the line alive. Maybe even a longer update cycle of 2 years worst case.

Who knows, but the Mini just got what I feel was a fairly significant upgrad, which is more than can be said for the Air. It may just be that they take turns upgrading now.

I was wondering, if the Pro does very well, if Apple would release a new iPad smaller than the Air 2 but bigger than the Mini 4 and go back to two sizes

If anything, I think that the iPad Air will probably start getting the middle child treatment and the iPad Mini will get more attention as a stronger discriminator against the size of the iPP. I guess it really depends on how Apple is going to manage the lifecycle of the iPP; if it gets an update next year, it will get the best bells and whistles and the iPad Air 3 will get marginal updates alongside the Mini that keep them on par with each other once again.

No way. I just bought a mini 4 from an iPad Air and the mini is by far more easier to manage and a better experience.

I was dumbfounded by the way the new mini 4 was a foot note at the Apple keynote release. It seems that even Apple doesn't think enough of the mini to give it any respect.
I really liked my Mini 4 but me eyes are not good enough to really use it without eye strain. The mini is really a tough sell over the iPhone 6s.

I'm not picking it over the 6s+, I'm debating if i should upgrade my mini 2 along with it.

I think the mini is probably the most popular model Apple has right now. It may not be called the mini much longer but I'm sure the form factor will be around for awhile.

Huh? Have u not heard of iPhones?

I think it's too important of a product for them to do away with.

The lower price point allows them to move more volume (even at the expense of net profit for ).

This way---you get an iPad (and the iOS ecosystem) into the hands of many more people that would have otherwise not invested in an iPad at all.

To me, this is much more important in the long term to Apple's success and bottom line than the diminished profit that the mini returns compared to the Air or Pro.

Choice is everything and the mini, air and pro will be the lineup and different needs so they must keep all 3

What part of different sizes for different needs for different people is so hard to understand?
