Yeah, usually if a blog/news site has a Facebook page it's usually just a fan page, rather than a way of getting headlines. They use Twitter for that instead.

Yes, it is an official page...more to come in the future, hopefully, but for the time being we've started posting front page articles to it.

Facebook is a good way to add visibility to a site/business. (I took a class on social media marketing when I was in real estate). I think it's cool. I just liked it. Thanks WildCowboy for confirming.

You mean a cheap way,:p a dedicated website is much more effective.

It can really do a lot to drive traffic to a website and can help with SEO as well. If it's planned and used properly, it can really help.
The problem is with Facebook's walled garden and what they do with the data. I would much rather go to a business' dedicated website.

Oh definitely. I used it kinda like MR is doing, just as an advertisement that points to the real site. It worked OK. Of course, we were in real estate and did business with friends.
