Pardon my nooby-ness. MuscleNerd just mentioned via twitter that the 4.3.1 ultrasn0w has been tweaked and should be good to go now.

For those that don't know, I am using my iPhone 4 on tmobile (4.0/01.59).

I am going to attempt the pwnagetool found here:

Is this the one to go with to keep my baseband and move up to 4.3.1?

Sorry I'm being so paranoid. If I go the wrong route then I'm out a phone and I don't want to go the gevey sim route :)

If you're on a Mac, that's the one! It won't let you update the baseband so stop worrying!

Sorry to get you hopes up! :)

As for Pwnage, it worked great and I am now jailbroken with 4.3.1 and my original baseband. However the unlock is not being so friendly...

What do you mean?

Just install Ultrasn0w from Cydia as well as Ultrasn0w fixer 4.3.1. Also, if you are with T-Mobile, then to make sure disable the 3G.

I thought devs are still currently working on Ultrasn0w for unlock, and possbily fix for the battery issue too for people running old BB 1.59

According to MuscleNerd, its going to be a fix and bypasses the unlock part

Thank you! Many many thanks to you guys who have helped me out and provided great information. It really calmed my nerves! lol.

4.3.1 is a very nice improvement over 4.0 and I myself have now saved the blobs for future reference. Best of luck to everyone!
 
Nice, this is about one of the last things i was waiting for. I saw that tweet today too and was excited.
 
UPDATE!

It did fix the issue of giving me no carrier name and no data HOWEVER, the signal bar is locked at 1 bar at all times. It never changes. I live in an area that is a bit sketchy signal wise so I went out for a drive and hit up a local cell tower. It never once changed. It still remains at 1 bar.

Oh well, I will keep an eye out and see what the dev team releases. This works for now
