The hosting/email transfer site thing, how safe is it?

I in-putted a friends email, and was hesitant to use my own personal email so used my universities email address, selected the files I wanted to send from my desktop and it's uploading now.

Is WeTransfer safe, or is anything... erm... compromised?

It can't hurt to encrypt the data first using software like TrueCrypt. Then even if the file gets viewed by a 3rd party, it won't matter.

It was only images I sent through, stuff that was far too big to be sent through emails. Just a bit concerned about WeTransfer doing something to my Mac?

I wondered about the same questions. (01/17/17) Just found this report, however date in '13.
