I can confirm that from my unlocked AT&T-issued iPhone 4S running iOS 7 Beta 4 that FaceTime Audio works well over AT&T 3G to an unlocked AT&T-issued iPhone 4 running iOS 7 Beta 4, both on unlimited data plans.

I see that, eventually, cell phone providers will eventually just be internet connection providers, providing mobile service via current cell towers, as the traditional phone call will become obsolete. It may take some time, and some universal communication compatibility standards between phone makers, but, it will happen.

This is what I've been saying for years. Can't wait for the day. Hopefully data won't go up in price..... Prob wishful thinking

i, and i presume op, am AMAZED at how many people here have no idea what wifi calling is.

Seething internet rage!

**** about FaceTime already. This is what's being asked about http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1680
I also don't get reception at work, and I'm about to buy a ****** android to put my sim in while at work.
PRO TIP: If you don't know whats being talked about, turn off your device.

Ive read sites reporting wifi calls should be supported but honestly i think they all just have it confused with FaceTime audio.

Apple would never allow this (at least not with their current rules of no carrier bloat). And it would be considered bloat as its just for tmobile. none of the other carriers have it. It would open floodgates for other carriers to try and add their own tweaks to ios. But apple could change their minds in the future...

There's wifi calling, this term is used in windows phone and u can have it in low end phone like Lumia 521 and this wifi calling is equivalent to FaceTime Audio in iOS 7

I think he meant that there is no "wifi calling" in the context of iOS 7 which isa where this thread is located. There might be something called "wifi calling" on other platforms.

This. Wifi calling as stated on the T-mobile website has never been announced as an iOS 7 feature.

Furthermore it was specifically mentioned in the keynote that FaceTime Audio calling would be WiFi only. If that's different right now in the betas it's news to me.

Perhaps because it is limited to a singular US carrier and easily conflated with any number of things could be called "wifi calling". Stop being a condescending prick.

the name Tmobile is in the OP.

and the specific term "wifi calling" i've only heard regarding tmobile. i've heard of all kinds of apps and such doing similar things, but never termed exactly "wifi calling" except regarding tmobile.

it's real easy to call people names behind the relative anonymity of the internet, isn't it?

My carrier recently released an app which is very similar to Whatsapp and tied to your mobile phone account. Apple should only offer the tech, it should be up to the carrier to provide free wifi-calling, otherwise, what's the point of getting a mobile phone number in the first place? People would stop buying an iPhone and get an iPod touch instead which does the exact same thing, only cheaper and in color.

O2 UK have an app that makes calls through wifi conection. And you can make calls to any mobile phone, even if the receiver does not have the app installed. App is called TU Go.

It's not a T-Mobile US only thing.
