Macpro, Apple extreme, Comcast cable modem.

it's right next to my mac pro (soon to be repaired mac pro)
is it better to just wire it to the modem? or is wireless the same speed?

what am i missing out for using wired? why wouldn't i just wire it?

thanks!

If its only for surfing, there wont be a speed difference, but you could just plug right in and not worry at all about wireless security and disable the wireless portion of the router.

If you had two computers and had to transfer stuff from one another, then wired would be much MUCH faster. MUCH!

if the modem is next to it, I would use ethernet. Less headache (drop-outs, base station freezing, etc) and it would also have less latency.

ok so let me summarize.

my airport has a airdisk plugged in.

using internet = no speed diff
transfer from my mac pro to airdisk = much faster wired?

ok. cool

i would still keep the wireless b/c my two other laptops are wireless..

cool thanks!

edit: so i'm not losing functionality wrt backing up via. time machine to my airdisk?
