Hello everyone,

Is anyone else’s iPhone Air warped?

I’ve had the Air since launch day and hadn’t noticed this before. BTW, I’m 100% caseless with the Air.

I recently got an Apple MagSafe Air battery pack and noticed that the battery wasn’t lying perfectly flat. I looked and sure enough, my Air is bent, haha!!

I have AppleCare One and am getting an express replacement, but Apple is charging $99 for ‘external damage’.

I always carry my iPhones in my right/rear pocket and don’t usually sit on them (too uncomfortable, haha!!). Once in a while, I’ll leave the iPhone in the back pocket while sitting. I’ve never had one bend before, haha!!

I haven’t dropped or otherwise damaged the Air. Glass is perfect front and back.

Oh well…can’t wait for the Fold/Ultra, haha!!

That phone - when I had it - was nearly indestructible. I've seen the countless videos of people trying to bend it. Is it possible it came like this from the factory - despite what Apple says?

Oh well $99 ... not ... too much of a loss but still.

Yes, I think it’s possible it was this way from the factory.

I remember Ternus and the marketing guy (Joz?) on an interview and they tossed the Air to the host to see if he could bend it. That’s how confident they were of its strength.

I pushed back on the $99 charge, pointing out there was zero physical damage, other than the warp. No go.

Have to remember that means over 100+lbs of force even if just once in a while.

Plus short bursts of larger G force when you first sit down "landing" in chair each time.

Yes, I thought of that. I’m at 170 and don’t normally ‘plop’ down on a chair, but still. The Air is super-thin!!

Oh well, the Air is cool, but will be replaced by the Fold/Ultra shortly, haha!!

Seems to be a factory defect. The frame is made of three separate titanium pieces joined by plastic. The defect may have occurred during joining. The inner frame is aluminum.

Mine isn’t bent at all. It’s lived in an Apple case and I’ve dropped it (in the case) a handful of times.
