I’m at a strange point with my Apple fandom. For the past few years, I honestly don’t feel a strong desire to upgrade to any of the new iPhones.

I currently have an iPhone 15 Pro, and it still does 99% of what I need. Apple almost sold me on the iPhone Air, but the lack of strong dual speakers ultimately turned me off.

So I created this poll to see where everyone else stands. Do any of the new iPhones appeal to you? If you’re not upgrading, what’s holding you back- is it the weight, price, colors, features, or something else?

So far. But I use my phone as a phone with texting and light email/web browsing, not as a substitute for anything else - like a computer. I have plenty of computers and TVs and such.

iPhone 11 Pro Max. No 5G, but runs iOS 27.

My current phone, 17 Pro Max is more than enough. In fact, my previous iPhone, 15 Pro Max will still be enough for using today. Upgraded to the 17 because of better camera, more zoom and the beautiful Orange color.

Pricing on new iPhones in my country is now insane. 256GB Pro Max is around the equivalent of $1900 and Duo is around $3160. Not planning on getting anything!

17 pro max is definitely enough. (Bought it 59 days ago)

14 pro was enough, but I wanted larger screen for typing better. After seeing the $100 increase I’m extremely happy and satisfied by the purchase of 17pro max. I’ll likely keep this for another 4 years like I did with the 14pro.

“Only” a $100 increase considering these unprecedented times (apologies for any triggering language) is actually not that bad, and it’s mild considering the past-rumored $300 increase. (For me, though, even the $100 was a mental barrier)
 
YES!

17 Air is enough for me.

Never liked the Pro/Pro Max due to the brick like design, heavy weight and thickness.

No longer a youngster which used to never bother me.

Now I am older, retired, and have other issues that make the Air so much better to use.

17 pro max. the 18 pro max seems like a minor refresh update. The Duo is nice but a downgrade in some ways (camera/battery).

Absolutely no reason for me to upgrade this year, next year, and probably 2028.

After watching this, I'm not even sure how much of an actual improvement the cameras are really getting year after year.

I have an 17PM and a 13 mini.

There was a time when I would automatically have upgraded to the 18PM. I don’t know how a variable aperture would make my life better, but I want one, and the burgundy is gorgeous.

But upgrading is just so expensive now. For essentially trivial additional value. And setting up a new phone is kinda annoying. My bank assumes I’m committing a massive international fraud if I add ApplePay to a new device.

I tried really hard to justify getting a Duo but I couldn’t. It seems like a great iPad with a not great iPhone attached to it. I like my 8x zoom.

Plus I promised myself I was done with upgrades. I don’t upgrade anything else in my life until it fails.

I did, however, order an Apple Watch 12. Coming from an SE3, I think that’s a decent improvement.
 
iPhone 16 pro max. Keeping mine.

Nothing recently has even slightly tempted me to upgrade. Barely anything has changed in the last 5 years anyway.

With the recent price increases, and my increasing resentment of marketing and consumerism, I’ll probably keep hold of it until it actually needs replacing.

Same here and I have the same phone as you. The fact its 2 years old and still has 100% battery health is great too. The price increase has put me off as well, even though I have the money to upgrade, it just feels a bit like I'd be doing it for the sake of it, rather than getting a phone with a noticeable performance difference. To be fair, most of the people I know keep phones for multiple years until they need a new phone, so I think the upgrade craze has faded in recent years.
