Hi there - my iPhone 13 Pro has been getting uncomfortably hot, even when case-free and not charging in non intensive situations like scrolling through Twitter on Wifi at 50% brightness, with autoplay videos off! Essentially whenever I use it, it gets hot - I never had an issue like this on my 12 Pro Max, even when using a more intense app like Google Maps. I thought I'd give it some time and let the phone finish indexing or whatever, but I've had the 13 Pro since Friday.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Mine settled down Sat night-Sunday monrinig-ish, and has been cool as a cucumber ever since. Conversely, my 12pro would get blazing hot often, just browsing websites.

I haven't noticed it. But using a case, I might not feel it through the case. Perhaps it was doing a bunch of background stuff (download photos, etc) that normally occur when you first set up a device.

I haven't had any issues. I keep my 13Pro in a wallet case. I use it to run Waze at least twice a day for 30 minutes - my work commute. It is handling it well - may become a bit warm. But compared to my 12 ProMax it is a lot cooler under the same conditions.

Mine ran hot on the first day after launch, but is running cool now. Battery life is good now too.

Nope, mine’s been fine so far. My old 11 Pro used to get really hot though, certain apps/websites would set it off

I've had my iPhone 13 pro for a week now and it is still running extremely hot with basic web browsing. Heat source seems to be near top right of screen. I'll give it another week to see if it settles down.

My launch day 13 Pro Max stays cool pretty much all the time, even charging. And using a ad blocker even keeps my phone cool while visiting macrummors.

When browsing on MacRumors forums via safari my phone gets pretty warm and the battery decreases very quickly. Now i use it via Tapatalk and it’s much much better. No more warm phones, and battery lasts much longer.

macrumors is known to deplete battery. install a safari extension within iOS 15 like wipr so that it doesn't get warm. I get this feeling macrumors contains some kind of malware on the backend

I found my iPhone 12 Pro Max go to within minutes if I turn on 5G.
Plus even with 5G on it wasn't that much faster than LTE so I have mine constantly disabled and phone stays cool and great battery life. Although after upgrading to iOS 15 it get warm from time to time and battery not as great as 14.8

Hell I appreciate how cool my 13 Pro Max is (and all my previous iPhones) compared the extreme heat of the Snapdragon 888 inside the Samsung Galaxy ZFlip 3 I used for a couple of weeks. That was uncomfortably too hot to hold when doing the simplest tasks.

My iPhone 12 mini is like that- gets noticeably warm on the back with the most basic use, and on random occasions gets downright hot.

Didn’t start doing that until a couple months ago— I’ve been thinking if the 13 series run cooler, it would be worth an upgrade.

If your phone is running hot then there are three explanations:

1) you are running an app that is GPU/CPU intensive, Eg a benchmarking app or a game - this is normal

2) there is a resource intensive web process, Eg the ads on macrumors site - install an adblocker extension and use safari

3) buggy software, usually 3rd party

I’d suggest checking the Battery stats in Settings to find apps running in the background and/or uninstall apps you aren’t using.

per usual, try a hard reset, update iOS and update all your apps

I know these would all normally be very applicable, but the problem is that mine gets warm using any apps at all, very light usage. Even simply talking on the phone with no other apps open.
