In light of the macrumors article about the pending iTunes update,

is your iTunes scrolling FPS acceptable or is it just happening on my system?

iMac 2012 27 with about 5000 songs, not exactly a large library on a not particularly slow system. its fusion btw.

im asking because its really off-putting, scrolling through the library, in almost every view available except the albums section which is perfectly smooth until you start clicking on albums. im absolutely convinced it affects my eagerness to just browse through the library rediscovering old songs.

i apologize if this is one of those 'lag' threads reappearing often but im just trying to find out if its really a thing or is it just happening on my system so i can maybe somehow resolve the issue. thank you, any input is appreciated

I have ~40k tracks in iTunes with no noticeable lag in song view. With that many tracks it is a lot faster to scroll with the scrollbar, but it seems to work fine either way. Artist view can get a bit twitchy as it tries to load the artwork.

A.

so you guys have smooth 60fps scrolling throughout itunes views apart from artwork loading slowly? hmm whats causing the lag on mine then..

I have 8GB of RAM in the 2010 MacBook Pro I'm using, so I'm not sure it's the RAM. That iMac he has starts at 8GB to begin with.

And yeah, the only issues I have in iTunes is the artwork not showing up, artist names disappearing, and that other bug where it doesn't remember the position. But no lagging.

I have about 6000 tracks on a Mini i7 with Fusion HD and haven't noticed any lag in iTunes. Now thumbing through my LP collection is really laggy! Any who, the mechanical part of a Fusion drive is pretty slow compared to the SSD section your system and apps are on. If your drive is getting full it will lag and there isn't much you can do about it other than transferring your audio collection to an external SSD if speed is important to you.
