I've handled seven 5s's and they all had the rattle in the home button. Worse than any previous iPhone I've owned. The most annoying part is how it rattles with Vibrate. But in every other way the phones were perfect, including mine so I'm keeping it.

Hi can you press the left side at the very tip of the button with your nail and the same on the right side and feel a difference?

Mine registers every time I press it but not every time the left side is pressed

This is regarding the iPhone 5S.

Just noticed my sleep/wake button is slightly loose. Wondering if this is a widespread issue or not.

Was loose on my 4 as well. Silent switch is also loose, which is a new thing for me.

What exactly is the "sleep/wake" button? Is this another term for the home button? Or does it refer to the power button?

I hate loose sleep/wake buttons. Volume rockers are never that loose, they never rattle... but why is the sleep/wake button rattling like goddamn always?!?

And why are people telling other people that the rattling sound comes from the camera lens?

I love everything about the iPhone5/s and I don't give a **** about nicks and dangs and ****, but rattling buttons make me sick!!!

That one morning I woke up before alarm goes of and I was looking at that sleep/wake button and I thought "It will start to rattle any damn second"! I am so sick of it!

i feel the same way, my 4 and 5 both had rattle, but on the 5s its much more noticeable. Every time my phone vibrates I can hear the rattle, when I type on the screen I can hear the rattle. Its pretty annoying. Not sure if I should wait couple months before swapping.

Had a rattle with my 4S, all web searches said it was the camera. When I held the sleep/wake button, no rattling. No rattle on my 5. Have a worse rattle on my 5S compared to my 4S. I keep my 5S in a case that muffles the rattle. I will probably take it to the Apple store.

Mine is loose too. Once in a while when I press it to wake the screen will come on for a half of second and go back dark  then have to be pressed again to wake. Has anyone else noticed this?

I just got back from replacing my first 5s at the Apple Store (it was randomly rebooting 2-3 times a day). My sleep/wake button is super loose and rattly.

The sleep/wake button on my 5 is slightly loose, but I keep a case on the phone so it doesn't rattle.

Loose but so was my 5 so i'm guessing that its a by-product of the current chassis.

Will you please post if you start to notice it being unresponsive?

Sure if I shake my phone without the case on it rattles, I wouldn't call it loose as it seems secure, just smaller button so it rattles.

But in my iPhone case I don't notice it, so it's only noticeable to people sporting naked iPhones.

Steve Jobs and Apple has made us so aware of zero tolerance tooling and perfect seams, so they really created there own nightmare of customers that accept nothing less than perfection. Steve was like that, it was the smallest detail that mattered.

There is no more final say from a guy who couldn't stand even the tiniest issue. This may or may not of been an issue for Jobs, we will never know, but it's not the same company, it can't be, which in some ways is better and some much worse.

I personally don't call this an issue, but it's very interesting.

I have a feeling all those that voted their's is not loose don't know what they are looking for. Every single 5S I've tested (>20) is loose. It is a widespread issue that they should address! You can hear it in videos and it makes the vibration sound cheap.

I have two 5s's on me right now. One has very firm sleep button with no rattle what soever but has yellow tint screen. The other has a loose rattling sleep button but with normal screen tint and better gyro level readings.
The lottery buying apple has become.

My ip5s had an annoying sleep/wake rattle. Called AppleCare and was told "there should be no rattle" noise by two different operatives.

Visited my local Apple store in UK and tried about 6 of the demo ip5s and non of those rattled.

My ip4 and ip5 also don't rattle so I returned the ip5s.

I had the white iphone 5s and it did rattle a bit, but swap it for a Gold iPhone yesterday and I feel no rattle. Must be a random issue

the rattling from the loose sleep button is all over any video I take with the phone unless I put my finger on the button to stop it moving, this is really bugging me, I went 64GB as I want to take a lot of video. I am tired of asking for replacements and hoping/wishing I get a good one.
