yay!

I was considering a hack to only do backups at idle times. While my machine is no slouch that sudden slowdown when TM kicks in while I am working is a real pain.

@KaraH: In that case iScheduleTimeMachine is exactly right for you as it can be set up to only perform backups when idle for a user selectable time between 1 minute and 60 minutes.

Hope you enjoy using iScheduleTimeMachine... Don't forget to rate it on the Mac App Store -> Click! :)

Why are you having to push an update every damn week?

Seems you haven't tested it fully or it's badly written. Take a bit more care and time with it.

Also having to install an additional script is terrible. It should all be in one motion.

G4DP: Just ignore it if you don't like it. Many users call it good support when things keep getting improved.

And don't worry about my quality management. Complaints about big bugs are VERY unusual in my products as you can see in this Thread, too. My fixes are mostly of a cosmetic nature.

Indeed, having to install an additional script is not the way I wanted it to be, too. It is too sad that Apple would not approve the App into the Mac App Store if it worked differently. I tried it several times. Trust me!

But if you don't like it that way, just visit the Web Page and download the Trial Version from there which does not need the additional Script. This Version can be activated to a full Version after the 7 day Trial period.

Hope this helps! ;-)

iScheduleTimeMachine - The Time Machine Scheduler *** SALE ***

Hello everybody,

I'm happy to announce that for the next couple of days iScheduleTimeMachine will be discounted by 66% to $0.99 down from $2.99 in the Mac App Store.

iScheduleTimeMachine, is the perfect Tool to customize when you want Time Machine to backup your data.

Be it based on dynamic times (every 5 minutes to every week), idle based (when you haven't worked on the computer for 1 minute to 60 minutes), or based on fixed times (for example every day at 5:00 pm), iScheduleTimeMachine is the solution for you!

With iScheduleTimeMachine you can very easily customize when you want to create Time Machine backups. So the times when Time Machine was starting a backup right in the moment when you needed all the horsepowers of your Mac are finally over.

Also it is a full replacement for the standard Time Machine Menu Item as it provides control over Time Machine, as well as full backup progress indication. That keeps your Mac's Menu Bar tidy!

Also iScheduleTimeMachine keeps track of your backup statistic which is always an interesting thing.

Of course iScheduleTimeMachine is fully compatible with Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9) and it is optimized for minimal memory and CPU footprint.

Question

Hi! I just bought your app and I was wondering if it would follow the setting on Time Machine - regarding which files to back up. I have some videos that I dont want to be backed up and my Time Machine is set not to include it. Will your app follow these same settings? Also, my first back up was around 130GB (Time Machine without using your app) and when I used your app, it's only backing up 900MB. Why is there a massive difference in file size? Thanks!

Just got the app, looks nice!
Have to test how it works later when running on 10.10
What is with the re-appearing icon (like a pref) in the menubar?

Just found out that this is the helper script that keeps appearing. A bit jumpy behavior in the menu bar, do not like it.

My MacBook Pro with 10.10 on it is buggy when trying to do a backup on my TimeMachine on Synology NAS (ds211+ running 5.0-4528 update1). Used to work all the time before update to 10.10 and iScheduleTimeMachine.

Anyone?
