Anyone know what the MP quality is on the built-in iSite in the new iMacs? Just curious how it compares to the MBPs or a general standalone web camera.
The iSight on the SR Macbook Pros have a 1.3 MP Spec; pretty good but you can get external webcams with 2.0 MPs I believe. The new iMac iSight should be the same as the SR Macbook Pros.
Actually, the MBP has an iSight MP of 0.3 MP. Unless they updated it in a recent model (I have 1st gen), then its resolution is still 640x480. I'm really curious to know what it is. http://www.apple.com/imac/isight.html claims that the new cam is high-res. -=|Mgkwho
Read again, Santa Rosa MBP is 1.3MP. Older MBP's are 640x480. Load up quicktime and get recording, the video is 1.3MP at 25/30fps.
Open System Profiler, select USB, then select Built-in iSight. If your Product ID is 0x8502, you have the new 1.3 MP camera. The old 0.3 MP camera was 0x8501. In any case, my 24" has a 0x8502. I suspect all new iMacs do as well.
