Am I selfish by hoping there isn't a new iSight on its way?
(Note I only bought my iSight a couple of weeks ago.. then bough the SightLight)

I don't think that you are being selfish. It definitely hurts the pride to purchase a new product and then have an upgrade come out a few weeks. Is this the light that attaches to the iSight? Sadly my wife purchased an iSight, but still hasn't put it to use. So she will really be outdated also.

well that depends.....for example i bought an 3gen ipod 2 weeks before the 4gen came out ( i just wasn't aware that the 4 gen were so close) but honestly i still like the 3gen design a lot more than tthe new 4gen ipods........the ONLY thing i really like more about the 4gen is the battery life........but othen than that i REALLY REALLY can live as a HAPPY 3gen user.

so that can happen with the new isight if there's such a thing

Well, it looks pretty certain that we'll have new isights. I just ordered two (I need them before the middle of September, so new or not I needed to order them) and the listed part number for my order is M8817LL/B. (2-3 week estimated for shipping).

After checking online for the original isight part number, I found it listed as M9330LL/A.

Unless there's some other reason for this discrepancy, looks like new isights are on the way!

HOT! Good tip...I just hope they are cheaper..Like 75 bucks and you can get two of them in a pack for like 135.

The "new" iSights are in some stores. The only difference is the new mount. That's it.

Do you know if Apple will start to sell just the new mount for the isights? Since I just bought a new 23" cinema display and have no way to mount my isight up to it.

I got my M8817LL/B iSight Saturday after a 4 week wait.

It has a nice magnetic mount for the new cinema displays. The other mounts seem the same. The camera looks the same in terms of size and styling, although I do not have one to compare it with.

Its tech specs still seem the same, so no internal video enhancements. It still runs VERY hot.

Awww... that's a bit disappointing. What exactly were the rumors again? Better power management and a wide angle lense? Oh well, that would have been nice.

Is it usual for apple to change the part number for such a minor revision?

All companies have to for retail/tracking/receipt/warranty purposes.
