I just noticed there is this weird "A" icon that looks a lot like the capslock icon but I have no clue what is really represents.

Do you have a Bluetooth keyboard? If so, that should be the battery level of it.

yup spot on WC, OP it is the level of your wireless keyboard. mine currently reads 0% haha!

thats so weird. i put in fresh batteries and it says 85% .. is it signal strength or battery level??

battery level. you NEVER get the accurate reading, its just a rough indication of the battery level. i wouldnt worry about it too much.
