Issue With Apple Mail After Reinstall of OS-Triangle with Exclamation Point Icon???

My email seems to be working, but I'm getting a triangle with "!" icon by my inbox. If I click on the icon I get:

"Connections to host Automatically added for iOS & OS X Mail on the default ports failed."

What kind of an issue is this? Is there a way to fix it?

Well at least my iMac has quit blowing up after the reinstall of Catalina

Who is the mail service provider? Restored anything from a backup?

Looks like service is down or the ports/password/SSL/etc might be incorrect in Mail > Preferences > Accounts > [account] > Server Settings.

If mail service is using IMAP, can always delete the account and re-add.

No, no, the question was asking who supplies the email service, not the email reader application. GMail, Hotmail, iCloud, your internet service provider, etc.?

We need to know who’s email service you use before we can help you with the configuration issues. Not who publishes the email app you’re using... not who your ISP is...

Here's a start. Verify that these values are set for IMAP and your Mediacom account password is correct.

You should be able to remove the account and add it back in. That should fix any configuration errors.

Many thanks all! I finally figure out that it wasn't the Apple iCloud Mail account. I didn't even know I had a Google account, and that is the culprit. I'll delete, and try to re-install. I'm guessing this came up due to my recent re-install of the OS for a fresh start due to wake from sleep crashes. Just an FYI below.

Having to delete everything, and reinstall the OS on this iMac have been a rough ride. Apple said to run the iMac without bringing back the data/apps from Time Machine, as they thought something there was causing my iMac to crash.

Unfortunately the iMac still crashed from sleep, until I fooled around with the Energy Saver and killed Power Nap, and everything else except put hard disks to sleep when possible. So I've gone for about a week without crashes. I'm still not sure the origin of the crashes. But for now it is stable.
