Issue with mobileme and proxies?

Hi - I use mobileme just fine on my home wi-fi, but on my university network i can't seem to sync up. The uni network uses a proxy, is that likely the problem?

AFAICT MobileMe Mail on OS X has never supported proxies, and just doesn't work. On iPhone it used to work under 3.X but seems to have broken under 4.0 🙁

Sync for contacts and the like works fine, but not mail
