I posted this earlier and did not get any answers. I am going to attach photos from the screen-recording this time because that will probably help.

I have been having sort of a flickering issue with my XS Max since I got it on launch. I thought it was only with two apps, but it happened the other day with the settings app. I basically will swipe up to get home and out of an app, and then swipe either left or right and a "ghost" image of the app icon (or something within the app) appears in the top left corner. Or even sometimes it appears in the middle of the screen.

I erased the phone and got everything from iCloud to rule out an issue with my back-up, and then I took it in to the Genius Bar and showed her the screen recording she said it was an issue with the screen being over sensitive so they replaced the display. Got home and it was still happening.

It isn't a huge problem or anything it is just distracting and can happen quite frequently depending on the day. Just not what you expect to happen on a brand new $1500 phone.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Hope to hear some feedback! It would be greatly appreciated!

Whoa that’s so weird! That doesn’t happen on my XS Max. If you had your display replaced already and youre still seeing that issue, I would definitely get Apple to replace the phone. Somethings not right with the internals on your phone.

My issue wit XS Max, faceid no working it Asks me always code, Face ID block.
I proof to reset, but after Turn off iPhone and I created a new Face ID.

Okay, thanks for the replies. I had an appointment at Genius Bar today and they thought it was strange and replaced the device. Just had the issue again with the new phone so must (?) be software...
Such a pain to go through replacements and still have an issue.

Figure I’ll just let someone at apple support know about it and hope the next update fixes it.

This looks like the app ghosting on the home screen issue in iOS 11 that was eventually fixed in an update for iOS 11. I haven’t gotten it since and now have an Xs Max and haven’t gotten it on this device too

Did you set up the new phone as a completely new phone? Or did you use a back up?

I set up the phone as new and synced what I could from iCloud. So I have everything backed up up to iCloud so everything came back except my apps and settings and stuff like that.

Software issue.

Put device into recovery mode and use iTunes to "Update" the device. Retest.

Recovery mode: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263

or

Restore device using iTunes and set up as new. Redownload apps and sign into iCloud to resync data.

When I got my replacement device I set it up as new, and I also tried that erase and restore and set up as new before going to the Genius Bar!
Maybe I should try the recovery mode.

I have this sometimes... I think it’s more software. I’ve had three different XS Max’s and they all did the same at random times.

Check your Face ID settings to make sure unlock phone is on as well as other options.
Otherwise you should start a separate thread devoted to this.
