Issues after disconnecting video adaptor...

I was playing C&C Generals the other day with my MBP connected to my monitor via the DVI to VGA adapter. During the game, I had to move the MBP so I disconnected the adapter. The screen started flickering and I had to reset the machine. Afterwards, when I tried to relaunch Generals, my video card wasn't recognized (I got an error that stated I didn't have Direct X 8.1 or greater or that I didn't have a compatible video card). I've tried uninstalling an reinstalling the Boot Camp drivers and resetting my PRAM with no luck. Any ideas? I've tried running other games like Company of Heroes and they work fine.

If the other games work fine, it sounds like a software issue with that particular game.
