Trying to install 10.5.4 via usb on my imac g5. I hold alt on start up to boot from dvd/ usb though nothing is there, just the two arrows. The imac is my only mac computer I own, I made the boot-able usb with Transmac with an ISO from Macintosh Garden.

Any help appreciated

There are users on here more versed at this than I am but here's a start which should work:

There might be problems using Transmac to make the USB - in every instance writing a DVD is better.

Boot into open firmware by holding Command+Option+O+F

Then, type boot ud:,\\tbxi

That USUALLY will work on a G5 to boot off a USB.

just to expand on this a bit,

the "boot ud:,\\:tbxi" only works on PPC macs from 2005 or so, it is fully possible to boot from USB on PPC macs older then 2005 but its a little more complicated
