Anyone else having issues with Hulu on the new Apple TV? Using Unlocator to successfully use HBO Now and US Netflix but having issues with Hulu. When logging into my Hulu account I see a critical error and it freezes. Interestingly authentication is occurring as it warns me when I enter an incorrect password.

If I quit the app and return I see the same critical error message saying Hulu couldn't be launched. The only way to return to the 'welcome screen' is to uninstall and download the app again.

iTunes Store set to US etc so wonder whether Hulu is being geoblocked. Tried with UnoTelly and Unblockus to no avail.

Thanks

Im getting mine on Monday and I use unlocator as well. I will report back on if Hulu works for me. You should contact unlocator. They have amazing customer service. My guess is they don't have a new Apple TV yet for testing so they will need feedback.

Were you able to set the unlocator dns in the network settings page like the old Apple TV? I haven't been able to confirm that the DNS settings remain in tvos.

Great. Contacted Unlocator support and they're going to get hold of one and do so testing. DNS settings accessed in same way as on previous ATV which is still working great with Hulu. Sure it'll be sorted before too long

Hi !
I'm in sweden and use the unblockus DNS for the following Us apps on My ATV4: Hulu, Netflix and CBS and they all work fine so there's no geoblocking.

All apps are fine using Blockless - sounds like unlocator having issues with a host that need proxying.

Great news! I was worried they might remove it if the content owners had given them a hard time. Living in Canada and using Unlocator for MLB, NHL, Hulu, and Netflix means you can pretty much cut the cord completely. I just need my preorder to arrive now!

Think the issue must be at my end. Can't get it to work with any DNS service including those suggested above. Went as far as doing a factory reset and everything but no joy. All other apps working perfectly, just not hulu. Logged into my hulu account and under 'Manage Your Devices' I've seemingly activated no less than 20 Apple TVs in 24 hrs . Maybe that's red flagged somewhere leading to the device itself being blacklisted? Reactivated on xbox one and a 3rd gen Apple TV again this evening so doesn't appear to be an IP issue. Contacted hulu support from my account and will see what they say. Can juggle between devices for now, but hope for a quick fix

Hulu might be having problem I've had to log back in a couple of time on the new Apple TV. Seems to keep logging me out after sometime for no reason.

you sure hulu isn't running at the same time on another device when you are trying to login on the ATV4
Thats a similar error you get trying to playback on multiple devices at the same time

Thanks for the feedback/suggestions guys. Still not working for me. Really can't see where the issue is after exhausting the possiblilities. Tried uninstalling, redownloading, restoring, logging into different hulu accounts, closing and removing hulu from other devices etc. Don't understand why this is the only app that is failing me, while my home network and DNS setup allow me to access content from HBO, FXNow, etc. and Hulu itself works fine on other devices. Still maintaining dialogue with Hulu Support to explore my options so fingers crossed. In the meantime I'll carry on watching on my other devices.

I am having this exact problem. I have been asked multiple times to start the log in process.

I'm having trouble even getting the Hulu app.

With my ATV2 when I switched between the Canadian and US iTunes, Hulu (and other) US only channels would just show up.
Now with the ATV4 I need to install Hulu from the app store. I've switched to the US store, when I try to download Hulu it says you are being switched to the Canadian iTunes.

What am I doing wrong? I'm using unblockus. Do I need to create a US iTunes account?

Thanks.

Yes, you'll need a US iTunes account to get access to the apps that would previously show up on the old Apple TV. One you're set up with an account you'll need to switch stores under Accounts

Thanks! I had limited time over the weekend to mess around with it, but that's what I figured. A bit of a pain, but not the end of the world.

Here is a question, if I get a US account (I am in Canada) to download the Hulu app, can I switch back to my regular itunes account and Hulu will still be there? It could cause an issue if I need to create a fake account just to get Hulu when I need my other itunes purchases intact from my real Canadian account.

Any insights from anyone?

Yes, tvOS works in the same way as iOS meaning you can switch back and forth between iTunes accounts and the apps will coexist on the Apple TV. Hulu still not working for me but seen a couple of guys with the same issue on Unblockus support. Appears to affect a minority and entirely random so will have to ride it out. One thing to watch out for is whether Hulu requires you to be logged into your US iTunes ID and whether you need to make sure the region on the Apple TV is set to US. Again if it's like Hulu's iOS app it shouldn't but know this was the case on the old Apple TV. But given my issues I've not been able to test that theory

Ok, thanks for the insight. I am looking forward to digging in and trying it out. Ill report back what I find.

Well, after a few days of troubleshooting, I FINALLY have a solution to this problem and am posting it here in the event that others experiencing the issue stumble across this thread in the future. As a final throw of the dice, today I went out and bought a new third party router. Turns out the root of my problem was my BT Home Hub. It simply doesn't play nicely with Hulu on the new Apple TV, yet all other streaming services (incl. HBO Go and Netflix) were unaffected. The new router is working great, so if you'll excuse me, I've got some catching up to do!
