I have a 4+yr old mbp 2.0GHz core duo, and for some reason the volume, screen and key brightness buttons on the top of the keyboard don't work anymore. I have to go into system preferences to adjust anything. In general it's been real slow and kinda problematic lately. Where should I start with it? I don't have the original restore discs so I'm not real sure what I should do.

Well, it can only be 3.5 years old at most, but... 😉

It could be that the receptors have become dirty (under the keyboard), but a software problem could be just as likely.
