Hi guys,
I am absolutely stumped on this one and I can't understand why.
For years I've had a server of some kind hosting my music, G4 Cube then a mini etc... it broadcasts afp and smb shares to the lan. It has worked fine, I could share the itunes library but I prefer to have independent instances of iTunes open on the server and on this desktop windows computer.
Over the weekend I copied all my music over to this computer and ran jaikoz on it to organize. Something I've done quite often (my windows PC is a lot faster than the mac so I don't want it to take 24+ hours to process) I then copy the music back to the server, decide I'm going to wipe my iTunes library and re-import (lost play-counts and ratings but the locations of half the files will have changed anyway..)
So I go to itunes, 'file' then 'add folder to library' then
'\\LOCUTUS\Media Repository\Music'
something I have done many times in the past ...
At this point iTunes on Windows should freeze up as it imports all the file locations over and then about half an hour later it's all done.
This time - Nothing happens! No error, nothing ... it just pretends it's finished or that I never started it.
Other than the amount of files changes slightly, I can't find any reason why this might be -- has anyone else experienced this? I can add them singularly it would appear but I'm sure as hell not going to do that for my collection, thanks!
