Hey,

I currently upgraded my Macbook3,1 from 1gb to 4gb. However, on my hardware overview it is still displaying only 1gb. In the memory section thought it recognizes both 2gb chips and are working fine. So is there a reason that the software is only showing 1gb of RAM? The hardware overview is showing :

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MB31.008E.B02
SMC Version: 1.24f2

Before purchasing the RAM I ensured my Macbook was able to upgrade to 4gb and that the RAM was correct and is Mac certified. If anyone could provide any type of assistance I would deeply appreciate it, thank you

Further down the list under Hardware, see what you have under Memory by clicking it.
If it looks funny post it here.
