I wanted to use a system monitor app similar to HWINFO64 on windows, and I found iStat menus. However, after I installed it through web(not App Store) and Intel power gadget, my MacBook Pro 13" 2020 has been dead overnight when I closed the lid. My suspicion was that iStat menus was keep monitoring even when I closed the lid and Mac went to sleep. I tested once to see if my Mac would went to sleep after 5 mins as I set it. The display was turned off after 5 mins but I didn't know if it actually went to sleep.

I was still in trial period so I don't know if this would relate to my issue.

I never had such battery drain overnight issue before I installed iStat Menus. It seems a very good app, and I saw a lot of people recommending it. Could any explain why I was having such a battery drain issue, and how to fix it?

I just saw a possible case of this which got me searching and found this post. For me, I shut the lid and put it in my bag. When I got it out the computer was hot as if it had been on but the fans off. I only had this issue after installing istat menus on my 16" mbp. Not 100% sure it was istat but I feel like it could be the culprit.

Idk. I switched to turbo boost switcher for longer battery as well as some monitoring after I had this battery drain issue with istat menus. I think I emailed the developer about this issue back then but they replied that istat menu shouldn’t cause any battery drain.

Same question here, it seems while sleeping, istat menus acquire battery information every 15min, does this interrupt the sleep?
