I have a feeling that he new iPad mini won't be called an iPad at all, especially if it is a lower cost item that many people think it will be. They won't want to devalue the iPad brand. I'm sure it will have a funkier more playful name.

The iTad
because it is just a "tad" smaller then the iPad ;)

No way. If anything, affixing the iPad name to the mini will help sales because people will recognise the product name much more quickly.

Plus, it's within the same family of products. I don't recall the MacBook devaluing the MacBook name for their laptops.

Well, that's a... uh... bold prediction you have there.

Does it really matter? I certainly think they can call it the iPOS and people will buy.

It's going to be called the, "more", duh.

And it's little!

If it runs 1024x768 iPad apps they will call it an iPad.

iPads run iPad apps. That's a concept that's already handled in the app store and most consumers get it.

or something....

I would be really surprised if it's not branded as an iPad. In fact I think that is inconceivable.

It is an iPad you can put in your pants pocket do it will be called

PantyPad

Oh, that is wrong on so many levels :D

This thread is hilarious..:D:D:D

Seriously though maybe it will be called 'Ipad air' or 'Ipad little' see invite.

But like the iphone we thought that it was going to be called the 'iphone6' and others who caught a clue thought it would simply be 'the new iphone'

More than likely though it will be the 'Ipad mini'

They can however go with anything as it wont matter.

Hey maybe the ipad 4 will be 'ipad pro' instead, that'll be cool especially if was more capable in production base apps.

Fixed that for you.

In the intrest of having a bit of fun at the "bigger is better folks", I went to Google Images and searched for "small smart guy standing next to big dope".
I didn't find the sort of image I was hoping for, but curiously, this image came up:

Not quite the size differential I was hoping for ... but the irony content more than makes up for it. :p:p:p

Seriously, who cares what they call it?

There's a lot of resistance to the Mini and a lot of people think the big iPad is redundant.

I have a Kindle Fire which I've been using since the holidays last winter. It's great for reading anywhere. I especially liked it on the plane when I commuted for 18 months to work each week. At the time I had a 13" MBA then MBP, and my iPhone which was too hard to handle because of my over sized hands. The laptops were best for movies or work, but the Fire was best at pure pleasure reading.

When I saw the big iPad on the plane the users were either holding them up with two hands (but not for long) or propping them up on their tray and leaning forward to read it. I never had to do this because the laptops took care of themselves and the fire was so small it fit between me and the tray for easy reading.

The big iPad has a place, but the Mini will be the proper size for me anywhere I choose.
