iPad Mini doesn't sound so great, like reducing its value against the then ... normal iPad?

iPad Air is logical if it's thinner and super light, and considering it's a comparable situation between MBP15 and MBA13 sharing the same resolution.

Both monickers also imply confusion though with other Apple products if calling them just "the Mini" or "the Air" with iPods/Mac Minis or MBA.

So maybe just "iPad" sounds still quite good, suffixing it with "8" if necessary.

... or let's try to be inventive :D I propose iTake (the domain appears to be free after next October 29th, exactly 1 week after the next Apple event).

"This is High-Tech. This is iTake"
you all know now that I obviously don't work in ad business :p

In the intrest of having a bit of fun at the "bigger is better folks", I went to Google Images and searched for "small smart guy standing next to big dope".
I didn't find the sort of image I was hoping for, but curiously, this image came up:

Not quite the size differential I was hoping for ... but the irony content more than makes up for it. :p:p:p

Seriously, who cares what they call it?[/QUOTE]

I got other results when I searched that.

while its a stretch, but any chance they would revive the name iBook (hardware wise) and gear it towards textbooks and education? Its not very likely because it would be seen as a limited consumer device, but just a thought. Hope someone hadnt mentioned that already.

****: apparenly big sam already had the idea. Well, there ya go.

I have a feeling that he new iPad mini won't be called an iPad at all, especially if it is a lower cost item that many people think it will be. They won't want to devalue the iPad brand. I'm sure it will have a funkier more playful name.

Well they have something like this in the past , renaming a smaller iPod to iPod Mini then from Mini to iPad Nano. So it's a close call to say it will be called a iPod Mini.

I think it will still be called the "iPad". Just like the macbook pro there will be two different sizes yet they are not called anything different.

It would be cool to try and think of a new "i" device name. But what's left?...

iPhone (ET uses a phone system)
iPad (A launch and landing pad for "crafts")
iPod (A chamber for "beings")
iPortal perhaps?

...Until they release something new and I think to myself, "Why didn't I think of that?"

Do you see the correlation?

Your comment is funny. It tells much about your lack of respect for what will be a HUGE seller for Apple. Not sure what it will be called but they will NOT be ashamed of it!:p

why "i"

what is "i" means ? since ipod, ipad, iphone, there are numerous product's name over marketplace starts from "i" . you can't image.

to be unique, only please do not use "i" anymore ....

i don't care what it's called. if it's a great product at a great price. i will buy straight away. i am definately in the market for a small tablet that will slide into a jacket pocket.

Even an 8Gb model is enough @ $249 if you've already a smart phone you can just tether. You don't need much storage. Or stream all your content around the house, take to the gym.

iphone/ipod touch for on the go.
ipad mini for bed, couch, doctors office, waiting room, public transport.
laptop for work.

I think many people will just dump the larger tablets. the cost is high getting very close to an ultra book territroy, you cant really work efficiantly without a file system a proper keyboard or mouse.

I think the 7.85" size is perfect. less bezel more portable, cheaper. lighter.
