Hello guys,

I just got an old IMac A1311, a 21.5-inch, i5-2500, 8GB RAM, and 500GB HDD with High Sierra OS X.
It worked fine with the original HDD but was too slow to stay with. Thus, I replaced it with a new SSD.

Since the new SSD doesn't have a thermal sensor, I did the thermal sensor bypass trick, and the picture is right.

For the bypass trick, I had to take the mainboard out and solder the pins 6 and 7 following the link.

Here are some extra works I did.
- Replace the thermal grease for CPU and GPU
- Clean up all dust from three cooling fans, PSU, ODD, and all corners inside the case

After all the cleaning I assemble all the parts back to the original position and connect to the power outlet.
Unfortunately, there was no sound of power or signals at all.

Did I do some wrong with the bypass trick or anything else you could advise me?

Could you help me out?

Thank you,

Un.

Hi,

I am sorry for the late reply. The original solder blob was removed for the right one(picture above).

IMac turns on properly, but the fan turns at the full speed all the time.

Unfortunately I will remove the new solder blob since the article below.

Thanks,

Ryan.
