I have iphone 4 unlimited data plan and just got my iphone4 jailbreak to use unlimited 3G data...
which app should I use for iPad at&t 3g with out at&t causing me any problem later?

Thanks.

Use MyWi, the ondemand service is excellent. You won't have a problem with AT&T as long as you keep your usage down to a minimum. Most people now believe that they're just targeting high data users. Me and my buddy have unlimited data plans, Ive used 6 gigs and he used 8 gigs last month and we both use MyWi with no problems ...yet.

If you are okay with wired tethering, you can use tetherme for about $2 or $3. I've heard that tetherme will enable the hotspot for the 4.3 jb.

Why wired? I have TetherMe and use BT.

*Edit* Just realized iTether and TetherMe are different apps..sorry

I forgot that tetherme does bluetooth; if the OP wants to use it with ipad right now, the ipad needs itether as well.

MyWi is my solution. I am right where you are. Jailbroken iPhone4 and non-jailbroken iPad2. No issues and no nastygrams from AT&T (yet). (Searches for wood to knock upon)...

So is the common belief that AT&T has just been targeting extremely high data users? I plan to mywi tether my iPad 2 to my unlimited AT&T iPhone 4 for very occasional browsing out of wifi.

I know on the Verizon version with 4.2.6 (built in hotspot feature) tetherme works grand, and uses the built in capability, resulting in WPA2 and infra-structure mode instead of WEP and ad-hoc that MyWi uses.

True about Verizon, but the OP is on AT&T. No hotspot until 4.3.

Agreed, but the same code should be inclusive of 4.3.1 as in 4.2.6 IOS on Verizon, so it "should" work the same. Verizon just got it first because of the lateness of getting the iPhone and it having some of the newer features that were upcoming in the AT&T version. Ergo, it should work fine in the AT&T iPhone as well.

I just jail broke my iPhone 4. Can anyone confirm wether or not tether me is working with the native hotspot feature of the iPhone?

yeah i can confirm this... works smooth as ever with the native ios hotspot feature.

Is there any benefit to getting TetherMe over iTethering or vice versa? They're both $5 and seem to do the same thing.

Actually, they do look like they do different things. To turn your iPhone into a MiFi type wifi bridge, you want TetherMe.

Or MyWi, but it's much more expensive.

Nobody knows for sure, but keep in mind testing for actual tethering is not complex (the current apps make no attempt to cloak themselves). AT&T has been quiet since the original batch of notices, so we don't know what the long term follow-through will be. At a minimum you will have a notice prior to them taking any action. For now, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

...I am jail broken with redsn0w on 4.3.1 using tetherme with wifi hotspot perfectly!

+1

JB with 4.3.1 and TetherMe works great!!!!

(There doesn't seem to be a SB Settings toggle for TetherMe...which would be nice)

Appologies in advance if this is a total noob question but I can't find the answer despite searching....

If I JB with 4.3.1 and use TetherMe will I be able to tether a not jailbreaked iPad by BT?

yes.

for what it's worth... i use mywi after trying both it and tetherme, mywi is much better. It doesn't just stop transmitting data after a brief while. so, i've stopped using tetherme and am using mywi solely.
