iPod touch itocuh wont pop up on desktop

OK, i just recently got an ipod touch and when i plug it into my macbook it only shows up in itunes and thats it...is the itouch suppose to pop up on your desktop like other ipods...any idea on how to fix this?

Straight out of the box your iPod touch won't show up on the desktop because it does not have disk mode. It will only ever show up in iTunes.

The iPod touch has no ablity for disc mode, so it will never show up on your desktop.
