Wasn't this first reported by John Gruber @ Daring Fireball?

I've been saying a 7.85" iPad Mini is an equivalent to a ~8.1-2" Android tablet for a while on this forum :(

It's pretty interesting phenomenon how so many people put an emphasis on the first number of a diagonal, while completely ignoring the ".85" part as well as the aspect ratio, both affect the size significantly.

Then again, it's probably related to why we see a product priced "999.99" instead of "1000" all the time.

Cool. Though the iPad 3 would have been nice, a smaller iPad is more useful to me at this point.

No doubt "Mini" will take away from big iPad, but how much will it gain from rest?

Not sure if iPad 2 will stay around, since the low end segment is covered by mini

I think the iPad 2 will be around for at least another 4-5Q. IMO, it's going to be another 3-4 Q before the iPad 3 really can meet demand.

At least half of the anticipated 20mil iPad sales Q3 will be iPad 2.

Sept/Oct are going to be very exciting times IMO. :apple:

What if we're all wrong and this is just the remote for itv.

It will be, along with all the other iPad functions. That is just another App.
Apple's goal is to simplify your control of your home via iOS devices and an iPad. 10" on the stand in the Den. 7.8" in your purse. It can't be stopped.

iRemote, MyHome, iControl...who knows? :apple:
