Bought a macbook today after my Air sold on ebay. Love this forum and I will still check in. Thanks for everyones' help with both Rev A 1.6/80 and Rev B 1.86/ssd.

(Closes Macbook Air door and opens the Macbook forum door to a much more crowded room.)

The two main reasons I sold it was 1:I couldn't stand the screen issue and 2: I want to get more out of Snow Leopard. I love the new Macbook. Honestly, it isn't that much heavier when I put it in my bag. I don't know why I didn't pick this up in the first place. The one thing I will miss about the Air is the stare-downs it gets in public place. It started many conversations. I love the screen of the Macbook and the 2.4 is blazing fast however I do miss the snappiness of solid state and I have to get use to this new trackpad. No heat issues, flawless condition, fans have yet to turn on (except during updates). I couldn't bare to be without the backlit keyboard after having it with the Air so that made me upgrade. I am an extremely happy customer but I will cherish my Air days forever.

congrats on finding something that works for you. maybe someday you can throw a 2.5" SSD in your macbook to get the snappiness back?

Once you get used to the glasspad you won't be able to go back to anything else. The coefficient of friction they chose is pretty much perfect. All other trackpads, even the MBA one have the wrong amount of friction for my tastes.

If you don't use bootcamp much I'd suggest a cheap SSD upgrade from OCZ for a hundred or two hundred dollars. These things are selling for dirt cheap on ebay and craigslist due to their problems on Windows but they seem to work perfect in OSX. See this thread here for details.

I do use bootcamp, in fact, XP is already installed 🙂. It's amazing that the fastest Windows based computer I have ever owned is a Mac hahahahah. I plan on swapping out for solid state when the price comes down and perhaps a Cinema Display in the near future.
 
All things considering, you're in for a treat regarding the MB 2.4 and the screen.

I do love the MB trackpad. I miss it. I think the MB is a fine machine, screen aside.

Glad you found what makes you happy. That is the most important thing.

I actually made profit to be honest. I had the 1.86/hdd coming but they sent the ssd because of the delay. I'll probably put the remaining cash towards a cinema display.
 
I'll be doing the same soon. Uni is offering a plan where you get the newest MBP 15.4" model with 'all the software you need' so CS4 and MS office and a few other goodies i suppose for $100 a month. So I'm thinking i'll take that and just sell my MBA..

It will be hard to make the jump though, i find the normal macbooks quite heavy now! so macbook pro is going to be an adventure.
