One problem is the watch bands may not fit in the box for the "other" band. Example: my milanese doesn't fit in the link band box, which is sort of a bummer.

I guess that's another accessory maker opportunity: watch band holder.

Also, I have no idea how/where to store the extra links! First world problems are great.

This has been an issue that has already been solved by traditional watch collectors. They are called "strap albums" or "strap rolls"

It's actually better to buy the more expensive band if you purchase AppleCare+.

The serial number registered is for the SKU (watch and band) that was initially purchased. When I called to request an express replacement, I was sent another package of the same watch and band that I initially purchased. I purchased a leather loop band that I wanted to ensure would be covered in the event that it was involved an accidental damage incidental, and was initially told that only the original band shipped with watch was covered.

Talking with a SR support specialist after considering retuning my SS WSB for SS BLL, I was told that the accessories are similar to how non-serialized accessories would work for a Mac. In this case, an additional Mac book charger purchased would be covered under the original AppleCare+ purchased for the Mac book.

I said that I would love to just take him at his word, but there is so much misinformation on what is and isn't covered. He noted my apple account and apple watch hardware in the system so that the information remained true if I ever had an issue.

Hope this helps.

Band are not covered under AppleCare+ at all, at least in the UK anyway. When I called to purchase AppleCare+ on the day I received my watch I asked this question and was put on hold for a good 5 minutes while she read the actual wording of the terms & came back to say, as she thought.....bands, chargers, cases, etc are all deemed to be accessories and are NOT covered under the AppleCare+ accidental damage cover.

The fact she actually went to check and was very particular about not wanting to give me false info leads me to believe what she told me was indeed correct for the UK market....bands are not covered at all under the AppleCare+ accidental damage cover, just the watch face is. Bands are only covered from manufacturing defects in the UK.

Okay, now I see why the OP likes the case. My blue leather loop band arrived today and the plastic case is heavier and nicer in person than I was expecting from the photos and videos. I've known for weeks which bands I simply had to own, but I never gave any thought to how to store them when not in use. I'm very happy to have this nice case for the leather loop and am even happier that my link bracelet is arriving tomorrow in its own case as well. The watch (SS with BSB) is also arriving tomorrow, so I'm very excited now that I've had a little unboxing preview with the leather loop this evening.

In my experience Apple employees know nothing (I'm remembering with bitterness the "do you get two complete sports straps" debacle: my online person checked with her supervisor and was very clear that you get two complete straps).

That being said, if you're right (and I'm sure you are) then AC+ is out for me.
