I too am laboring in celebration of labor day. 5am-3:30pm in the laboratory, time and a half though, $40/hr ftw!
i hate you. i'm a temp so i don't receive anything special until 90 days of employment. and thanks to getting laid off, this is week #2. radical

We moan and groan (OK, well, I do, sometimes) about having to work on Labor Day. However, given that almost 10% (in the US) of us are out of work these days, I am at least a bit grateful I have a job to kvetch about. I know too many people who are unemployed/underemployed these days...
I'd work 20 hrs of overtime a week if I could. Mmmm jobs, nomnomnomnomnom.

I'm on salary, which has been redefined to be "indentured servitude", more or less. In my line of work (IT), Salary == 24/7 on call, so sometimes it feels like I'm bringing home $1.50 an hour...
Still... I ain't complaining. Too loud...
Currently at airport going to Florida to work for the week. Traveling on the holiday is worse than working.

That's why you leave the day before, either early or late, to avoid all the smelly airplane people. 😛

Eh? I thought Holiday pay was supposed to be double pay. I thought it's suppose to be 1.5x for over time, and 2x for holidays (basically you're getting paid for work and getting paid for the holiday. Those who take a holiday off still gets 1x pay.)
Well, I'm working today too. No overtime, pay no holiday pay. Salary.🙁
