It is like night and day. I'm getting twice the battery life on my iPod Touch 5 after the iOS 8 beta 2 update. Before this, I never got more then two days of standby use with one full charge. I already have three and a half days of standby time and the device shows it is still over 25% charged.
I only use the device for maybe two-three usages hour per day.
In beta 1 the battery usage screen in settings was broken. Beta 2 fixed this. From this I found the apps that had been sucking up the juice and made adjustments. There were a few of them. Podcasts is one of them that comes to mind.
For battery efficiency on this device, iOS 8 beats (hand down) iOS 6 and iOS 7.
Maybe the is hope for others too.
