I hope they make a smaller version of the ultra next year.

To be fair, my Series 3, which is nearing its 5th year of use, still lasts me 1.5 days on a single charge. This is without any short, top-up charging. I don’t know where Apple even gets its “18 hours” from.If I were to buy an Apple watch the only one I’d consider would be the Ultra. The reason for that is I couldn’t deal with the 18 battery life of the regular one.
Frankly even the battery life on the Ultra is bad. 36 hours means basically charging it every day. I’m not sure I could deal with that. But will wait for real world reports.
Will have to wait and see.Not if you're using the GPS heavily; I run, hike and cycle at least 5 days a week.
It's not going to last a week.
Not to mention the temperature taking is really only useful to women looking to conceive?I would probably never buy the Ultra, but I can see why it's compelling to many people, especially the battery life. And I agree, S8 this year is very disappointing, it's essentially a limited temperature tracking and a car crash detection. Nothing else. Given that, I can understand why some people want to jump on the ultra even if they're not athletes.
Not to sound rude, but if your Series 3 lasts battery 1.5 days, you aren't using it for it's intended purpose. You basically just use it to tell time and don't have anything paired with it (such as Apple Music, maps, Activity, or searching for a signal, etc. What is the point of even having it to just show you the time? I mean it's your money, but IJS...... I call BS on that 1.5 days claim. To be fair, my Series 3, which is nearing its 5th year of use, still lasts me 1.5 days on a single charge. However, in reality, I never have to go out of my way to charge it, and I do wear it continuously all day, every day, except while I shower. I just make sure I charge it for 15 minutes while I shower. That’s all that’s required. I need to top my battery up ~50% every day in order to wear it Monday to Friday without issue.
The ONLY annoying thing is during vacations. With my iPhone, iPad, and camera (Ricoh GR3) requiring a charge, I don’t bring my Apple Watch because I don’t want to charge ANOTHER device. I have my metal/steel G-Shock Square for trips (GMW-B5000), or for weekends.
Exactly this. One good thing is that Apple usually underestimates battery life. For example, S3 was advertised as 18 hours but go go sometimes as high as 2.5 maybe 3 days. S7 is advertised as 18 hours but could go for around 24 - 30 hours. So, here is a hope that those 36 hours are actually 72 hours or maybe even close to 4 days with AOD.It seems to me it is a charge daily phone.
They advertise 36 hours. Those estimates are often optimistic. The day is 24 hours. Humans operate on that 24 hour cycle. So unless one wants to charge on an changing schedule, that means every 24 hours.
I’ve never had an AW. If I missing something let me know, but that seems like it doesn’t have a strong enough battery. The future energy saving mode is not here yet and there is no telling what will be required or lost to get the extra time.
No, S3 actually had the bast battery of all AW series. when it was new close to 2.5 - 3 days. 48 hours was minimum for me. After that S4, 5, 6, 7 all had poor battery. Not to sound rude, but if your Series 3 lasts battery 1.5 days, you aren't using it for it's intended purpose. This is excellent point. 60 hours with 15 hours of GPS. That means it could maybe do 120 hours with no GPS? That would be great. Will have to wait and see.
They are saying 60 hours and if you read the small print that’s with 15 hours of gps tracking + a whole bunch of other things. So potentially you could get more hours if like you only spend an hour a day exercising.
It's also 'heck no' for many. 😃
