I do not believe that you could get iTunes before OS X. OS 8 had radio or CD player or something of the equivalent.

You can do go with my solution though when a product is incompatible with your hardware, buy a new quad core maxed out G5. :p :rolleyes:

as always, i may be wrong, but i doubt it.
 
iTunes was available on OS 9.2. I think there were some hacks to get it installed on earlier versions, but they seem to have disappeared.

Edit: This should allow you to run it under 8.6.
 
OK then, How about an old version of Quicktime that runs on 8.5. (becuase seriously, I've had this imac since i was 6, and i dont have the $$$ to get a new one.)
 
You can upgrade from 8.5 to 8.6 at this site. Then you should be able to use the info in my previous post to get iTunes working on it.

Edit: And here's Quicktime 5 if you want it.
