There is a reproducible bug with OS X iTunes 10.2.1.
When selecting a subtile language (soft subtitles) from the menu, the language options are shown but no subtitle is playing.
Quicktime and other players like VLC play these subtitles just fine (as did previous versions of iTunes).

    Very interesting.
I also thought it was the subtitles, however every movie with subtitles which used to work no longer do, so there is something a miss here...
I know of a few more folks who are having the same issues since 10.2.1.

Correction: No all movies with subtitles are effected but most. Also I noticed that some movies which had subtitles turned ON can now no longer be turned OFF.

Further, I tried this on several Mac systems and the results were identical. I have to say that most of my systems also are of similar configuration...so if this is due to third party software (which I doubt), it could explain the same results....

iTunes on 10.6.7 uses AVFoundation instead of QuickTime, so it's quite new and untested.

Very interesting. Thank you for the information.
After further digging, it looks like iSubtitle 2.5.2 and iTunes 10.2.1 do not get along. Joergen, the developer, did not change any of his code, so there is something new and by the sounds of it quite a few changes...
Using Handbrake to add subtitles still works with iTunes....
    Cheers!
