Hi there
my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.3.4) suddenly isn't recognized by iTunes 10.4 under Lion (as is my iPad) anymore.
I suspect iTunes has some kind of invalid state concerning the mobile devices, as I seem to have lost all my backups from those devices, too.
All help I found at Apple, is for older versions of OS X. They suggest to reinstall iTunes. This seems impossible under Lion, as I get a message, when I try to delete iTunes.
Do you have an idea how to solve this problem?
Thanks,
Claus

Reinstall didn't work

I just reinstalled iTunes 10.4 hoping, that the service or config file (or whatever is missing or tilt) is put back in the original state.
But it didn't work. I'm open to all kinds of ideas to recover iTunes ...

Your backups are gone from ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup ?
iTunes 10.4 messed up my iTunes helper app, so I had to add it to my start up items again. What happens when you connect your phone? Nothing?

I'm having the exact same problem.

Probably something to do with the helpers.

For me, if I connect the iPhone/iPad, it starts charging through usb, but iTunes is oblivious of their existence.

I'll try restarting the services and stuff, see if that does anything.

I just reinstalled iTunes again and it seems to work. But I'm not really convinced
