I am using a Power Mac G5 EARLY 2005, I have had problems with connecting to Itune server. Did apple stop support for Itunes 10.6? I get an error message stating unable to connect to server.

Thanks in Advance

Hi @mgschnel, welcome to the forum! Unfortunately Apple has dropped access to the iTunes store and the Radio servers. That being said, this forum is a resourceful bunch of tinkerers and there are a few solutions. For the Radio, the Garden iTunes app (available on the Macintosh Garden) changes the iTunes binary and allows it to access stations again. As far as the store goes... the most I've seen is using a program like "aproxy" (available in another thread, some wonderful work by @GA204 and truly deserving of more praise) to get through. But it still won't allow you to log in or download... yet! If you check around, though, you'll see there's still a lot of cool stuff happening in the world of PowerPC Macs. It's just a bit more tinkering than Tim Apple probably envisioned (lol). Is the early 2005 G5 a dual-core or dual-CPU model? I have a late 2005 dual-core 2.3GHz, myself. She's still a solid beast even in her age, especially with maxed out RAM, a top of the line GPU (for the time), and a couple SATA SSDs tucked inside.

Hey Smithwick, I appreciate the information and will look at the suggestions, I am happy to be part of Macrumors,I hope to make a contribution to the forums in the future, My G5 is a dual-core 2.0Ghz with 16 ram and two hard SATA's as well. My history with Macintosh goes way back to the days LISA. Thanks again for your advice! I like your Avatar ... is that a porter?

It’s actually the source of my username - here and across the retro computing/BBS world - a Smithwick’s Irish Red 😁

Glad to hear you’ve got a long history! Even though this is a PPC forum I love hearing about ][ / 68k / Lisa stuff as well, despite there being existing communities elsewhere there isn’t on the MacRumors forum (except maybe the Apple Collectors section, which is really a bit more specific than this)
