My Home Sharing was running perfectly, using my 2 Apple TV's (3rd gen), our 2 iPhone 6's, and my iPad Air (1st Gen). Updated my iTunes last week to 12.1.1 and now NONE of my devices will connect to iTunes for Home Sharing. I uninstalled iTunes, and reinstalled the previous version and all my devices reconnected with NO problem. Updated back to 12.1.1 just a little while ago, and now none of my devices will connect, again. Am I the only one having this issue or has anyone figured out a fix? I do NOT want to go through the hassle of uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes again and having to restore my entire library.

    Thanks!!

    Is driving me insane

I have had problems with home sharing from Mac upstairs over wifi to Apple TV and iPad for some time. It won't connect or some other problem. everything is up to date with latest from apple. I have experimented with a lot of things and right now this pretty much always works.

If I know I am going to try to be streaming to iPad soon I will go to iTunes on Mac and File->Home Sharing->Turn off home sharing
Then turn it back on which always at least requires reentering password but sometimes also Apple ID.

Then on iPad got to settings->videos and tap where it has my Apple id for home sharing. I confirm log off. Then log in again reentering login and password.

So far this has 'always' worked.

It didn't used to be this way prior to the most recent updates to iTunes. Maybe it started with 12 but maybe before. I can't remember but it is reall annoying. Like windows 95 annoying.

For sharing photos, is same thing but photos.

reboot the ATV - that normally fixes it.

The whole iTunes thing is a complete mess, the store, the product, the limited control. Come on MS do something on windows so apple sits up and takes notice of how bad this whole debacle is. Since apples prime focus is now on share price, virtually the whole product portfolios quality is in the toilet.
