Hello there...

So, after today's update im getting some weird behaviour out of the new iTunes.

First, it doesn't open when i plugin any of my iDevices. No matter what i do in settings, niente.

Second, it just opens itself randomly and starts syncing with whatever device is connected. There is no pattern here, it's completely random. Sometimes i'm checking my mails, boom... iTunes opens... I'm working, iTunes opens...

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I can certainly concur with your first observation. Automatically starting to sync with my iphone seems to be hit or miss since updating to it. The rest I don't know.

Seeing other issues: It doesn't show progress or exactly what is happening with updates, etc. For instance when I have it update apps - it used to show which apps it was currently updating when there is a bunch and how many left - now doesn't. When I updated my iPad to 8.4 it didn't show the progress on the download - which is used to before 12.1 - like when I updated my iPhone to 8.4

I'm seeing the same thing and it is annoying. For example, this morning I had three iOS app updates and I clicked to download them and the download progress bar that used to be at the top is gone so you just sit there waiting until all the update icons have disappeared from the screen to know it is done.

I'm experiencing other kind of issues: on my 2010 MacBook Pro, when on iTunes, the Play button on the keyboard doesn't pause or start whatever I'm playing.

Also: In Europe, iTunes Radio -aside from Beats 1- doesn't play anything if I don't activate the subscription. I don't want to activate it yet, so... No iTunes Radio.

It's got a little circle icon on the right hand side that animates, you can click on it too.

Thanks for that. I had not noticed it. If you click it it gives you the status of each download and a progress bar, which is nice, but it sure seemed easier to just show it up top like it was before without having to click this dropdown.

thanks will try that - does it do something similar when downloading an IOS update? That I will have to wait a while to test out. I agree with Weaselboy - why hide and make more difficult something that was just there to see - also seems like a wast of programming time.

My iTunes sometimes displays 1-track singles as containing the following:

Example Title 3:30
-0:00
-0:00

Never happened prior to 12.2.

Also I tried to Share > Copy Link on an album in Apple Music and the computer rebooted (!!!) but I guess that's not for this thread... or is it? (it did happen in iTunes 12.2 after all)

My iTunes library resides on a Mac Pro with iTunes 12.1.2.

I mistakenly updated to 12.2 on my MacBook Air. I had regularly used the library switch toggle on the top left in order to view and play music from the Mac Pro library on the MacBook Air. I have many playlists saved (on the Mac Pro). When I try to play a playlist on the MacBook Air, it only shows me TEN songs from the playlist, seemingly random, and asks if I want to import them. Can't see the other 20 songs in the playlist.

This never happened before this disastrous update. iTunes 12.2 is a steaming, peanut-infused pile of crap.
The project manager for iTunes needs to be Forstall'd out of there post-haste.

Since updating to 12.2 I've noticed the following behavior:

I continuously receive a notification to log into my iCloud/iTunes account from iTunes. At first I thought it was because of the new setting where one can choose "password prompts" for iTunes purchases, etc. So, I turned it off completely hoping that prompting for my password would stop. It has not. iTunes continuously requests me to login to my account randomly.

Also, on both iTunes and Apple Music in iOS, if I'm playing anything related to Apple Music, streaming or playing something downloaded from Apple Music, it will randomly stop from time to time. And I will have to press play again. I don't see this as a big deal and I'm sure it will be fixed in due time.

I am an avid Apple devotee and will continue to use Apple products for the foreseeable future. But, something needs to be done with iTunes. And sooner that later.

Amen to that brother.

Apple Music continues being so buggy or plain stupid I post "daily Apple Music complaints" on my Facebook. Today's one: Apple Music recommended me "The Velvet Rope" by Janet Jackson, which I already own. A friend told me to heart it in My Music, so I did that. Result? Today I got five new recommendations (one of which I also own) and "The Velvet Rope" again.

YOU WILL STREAM IT OR ELSE!!!!

How come parts of one application seem to not communicate between each other at all?

Try repairing your Keychain or even deleting your iTunes login from your Keychain.
