iTunes 12.6.1 is released. It seems to be supported by OS X 10.9.5. I wonder why Mavericks App Store does not offer this iTunes update for installation. Any ideas? There must be a way to get it installed on Mavericks if compatibility is ensured.

Maybe that's a good thing for you. I am on 10.9.5 and the update appeared in the App Store updates. I installed it and now iTunes crashes on open. Every time. Every 2nd time it has a window that says it crashed on last launch and asks if I want to "re-open" the last windows or cancel and no matter what I click on it still crashes after a few seconds. If I click nothing it crashes too.
Seems to be no solution here. Crash logs show kernel exec failure. I'm guessing they removed it when it turned out to be incompatible?

Thanks for all input from you.
In my opinion if those described by Kevenly is true in wide range of 10.9.5 cases Apple should remove Mavericks from list of compatible OS X / Mac OS versions.
Yes I know provided download URL. This inquire was started rather to know the backgrounds why is it like this, compatible but not offered in Apple Store.
