Until recently, my iPhone and iMac have worked fine together. In fact, I can still charge my phone off my Mac and sync Photos to the iMac. DearMob also work. (Unfortunately DearMob doesn't see playlists in iTunes, so that's a pain to sync songs then build playlists in iOS Music.)

But iTunes 12 doesn't recognize the iPhone. I found an article on Apple Support and followed the applicable steps (short of calling them) but no luck. I don't have any third-party security software installed, so it's not that.

FWIW I'm running El Capitan (10.11.6) on my 2007 iMac.

Hey Jodeo!
I actually just went through this exact same issue with the new iTunes update. I tried a bunch of things including the suggested Apple Support method to no avail. I even did a clean install of my OS to see if maybe that was the issue, but nope. The moment I installed the 12.8.0.150 iTunes update, it would not recognize my iPod Touch whatsoever other than the initial security passcode confirmations. The only way I was able to fix it was to restore an older backup I had of my El Capitan OS that had the 12.7 update of iTunes. Either that or a fresh install. Hope you're able to figure out the issue and I hope I helped a little.
